Discover the colors and history of one of the most beautiful cities in the Americas on this day trip to Cartagena de Indias from Barranquilla. Its heritage and culture will win you over!
Day Trip Details
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Barranquilla and head by minibus to Cartagena de Indias, capital of the Bolívar department.
Once in Cartagena, we'll take in its colorful monuments and lively way of life. This historic city on the Caribbean Sea is one of the most visited in Colombia. Ready to find out why?
First, we'll head up to the Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas and dive into the history of this defensive fortress. Then, we'll head to a local restaurant for a traditional Caribbean lunch, with a main dish featuring fresh fish, coconut rice, or traditional meat, served with salad and a drink.
With a great taste in our mouths, we'll head into Cartagena's walled city, exploring its most beautiful corners, like Las Bóvedas. You'll have free time to explore this former military storehouse and browse its many stalls selling local crafts and jewelry.
We'll then meet back up to explore Cartagena's iconic spots, like Plaza de Santo Domingo, Plaza de Bolívar, Plaza de San Pedro Claver, and Plaza de la Aduana. We'll also visit the Getsemaní neighborhood and the iconic Clock Tower, the main entrance to the old city.
To wrap things up, we'll drive through the Bocagrande, Laguito, and Castillo Grande neighborhoods and talk about the differences between Cartagena's inner and outer bays. It's the perfect finale to the trip!
Finally, we'll head back to Barranquilla, arriving at your hotel 10 hours later.
