Let the magic of the Tuscan coast envelop you on this guided tour of Livorno. You'll discover why this city, with its corners full of history and its maritime atmosphere, is a real treasure waiting to be explored.
Our guided tour of Livorno begins at Piazza della Repubblica, a historic crossroads dominated by the Monument to Leopold II. Here, we'll welcome you and reveal the city's first secrets. It will be the perfect starting point for you to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of Livorno!
Step by step, we'll enter a veritable labyrinth of narrow streets. You'll feel like explorers as you approach the majestic Fortezza Vecchia. Its walls will tell us stories of heroic defences and of a port that has seen ships come and go over the centuries. What do you think of its imposing exterior? Did you know that it was the first medieval settlement around which urban life developed?
After discovering this Livorno icon, we'll take a leap in time that will take us to the picturesque neighbourhood of Venezia Nuova. Here, among elegant bridges and canals, we'll see that water is the real star of this city. We'll guide you along its banks, admiring the historic palaces reflected in the water and the alleys that hide fascinating stories.
We'll continue our guided tour of Livorno by crossing Via della Madonna. Can you guess why it has this name? Here's a hint! There are three national churches here that are important landmarks for various religious communities.
Before finishing the tour, we'll visit Terrazza Mascagni, one of the best viewpoints in the city. Did you know that it was built on the ruins of the Cavalleggeri fort? The views will take your breath away!
2 hours later, we'll say goodbye near the Mercato delle Vettovaglie, leaving you free to continue exploring the Tuscan city at your leisure.
If you want to complete your experience in Livorno, this is the option you're looking for! After the walking tour, you'll board a boat for an hour-long cruise along the canals. You'll enjoy the beauty of the Medici moats, discovering a unique perspective of Venezia Nuova and its palaces. It's the perfect way to appreciate Livorno by land and from the water!
